Feedback from guests - cut'n'paste from backpacker sites on Internet: The Bed and Apple is by far the most amazing "hostel" I have ever stayed in. Trond Henrik the host, sleeps in his office during the summer and opens his house to guests. You have full use of his excellent kitchen, dining room, library, hammocks, music system and balconies with the best Fjord view in Norway. To top this he lives on an orchard and you may eat any fruit you pick; raspberries, apples, cherries. jh375, Cambridge, MA Eplet made our holiday in Norway. Everything said about it is true, it is a haven among stunning countryside, its is a hide-away, it is full of fun people. It is a real gem, and I would recommend it whole-heartedly. I've loved my stay at Eplet (the apple), a small “bed and breakfast” without the breakfast, but with lots of apple trees instead. The owner is very pleasant and will provide you with ideas for hikes ect. Male, Denmark age 41. Bed & Apple it was not because now it's the time for Cherries & Strawberries. They don't serve breakfast but they offer you a full garden of fruits to eat or juice. Very nice and fun. Tron Henry, the boss in camp gived to us alot of information about what to do around, then we decided to stay one more night. Couple, Spain age 40. Solvorn is a little hard to get to, but once you do - this is a great place to stay. If you are backpacking, you have to plan carefully around bus schedules and grocery store opening hours. The setting is beatiful and very peaceful, I would recommend staying for at least a couple of days. Trond Henrik (the owner) is a former backpacker, and he runs the place well. My only small complaint is that the dorm is drafty and flimsy, being a converted barn attic, but it wasn't a big deal. I would go back there again anytime (with a car :). The scenery was amazing, and we spent a week there and couldn't even do half of the activities Trond offers to help organize. There is kayaking, hiking, glacier walks, and best of all, Trond will lend you state-of-the-art mountain bikes for free so you can go on local tours. Solvorn is tiny, secluded and un-touristy, yet has a well-stocked shop and is close to Sogndal, the administrative center for the district, which is easily accessed by bus; and from where you can get to Oslo or Bergen very easily. I cannot recommend the "Bed and Apple" highly enough. Very reasonable weekly rates; visit www.eplet.net for the direct Web site. Zie www.eplet.net ." "I have never stayed in such a great environment before, the owner is a young guy and ex-globetrotter who lives in the same house and shares everything with his guests. Use of kitchen and living room included. And all that for a great price." Peter, Zurich "Eplet Hostel is set in the middle of a working orchard (complete with two pet sheep) overlooking Sognefjord, the second-longest fjord in the world. The views are jaw-dropping and the apple juice is to die for. It's run like a home by the very hospitable Henrik. Family and private rooms are available within the house while a (cheaper) dormitory is located in the roof of a former barn within the grounds. Camping is possible. Facilities are basic but lovingly attended. In addition to the usual internet, television and kitchen/bathrooms there are hammocks, mini golf and free mountain bikes. There's plenty to do nearby, including day trips to Urnes stave church (a Unesco world heritage site) and a waterfall, great bike routes, apple picking, juice making, and of course gazing at that gorgeous fjord view with a fresh glass of cider. A lady in Bergen tourist office recommended this place to us and she really knew what she was talking about. It made our trip." Posted by emaf 6 October 2008
