Molden - The great Mountain.

Lustrafjord region has hundreds of high mountains that are well worth a visit. There are mountain trails everywhere, and we are happy to describe different routes in the region. But there is one mountain that is on top of the list, and that is the local favourite Molden 1118 masl. It is not higher than other mountains in the region, but its location as a single standing plateau mountain with the fjord and lowland on all sides makes it impressive, and its location between Jostedalsbreen, Jotunheimen and other mountain regions makes the view breathtaking.

It is fairly easy to access Molden. The hike is very well marked and starts at Molden parking at 500 masl. The hike itself takes 2-3 hours up and 1-2 hours down, walking time. To get to Molden parking you;

a) Use private car from Eplet. 10 min. drive.
b) Bus along the mainroad. You need to hike from the busstop at 300 masl up to Molden parking at 500 masl along an idyllic gravel road. Takes an hour.
c) Bike from Eplet. Eplet has a garage with 20 well-used mountainbikes free to use fro all guests. Borrow a bike, and go up to Molden parking. After climbing Molden you continue on the Mollandsmorki Rountrip.

Under; The view from the top of Molden. Straight ahead you see Skjolden, the head of the Sognefjord, the second longest fjord in the world. To the left you would see part of Jostedalsbreen, the largest glacier in mainland europe. And to the right in nice weather you would see Jotunheimen with the 30 highest peaks in Norway. Straight under your feet lies Lustrafjord and you can easily see the the romantic road.
