Hostel & Guesthouse at the head of Sognefjord, Western Norway

Eplet Bed & Apple - Hidden Pearl & Base Camp

  Activities:

Mountain Hiking.

Luster region offers some of the best and most various hiking possibilities in Norway. From Solvorn you can follow small forest tracks up to old mountain pastures. Further on - and you end up in the mountains. With stunning views.

It's often claimed that Molden is the finest viewpoint in Luster. The pathway starts from the car park at Krossen. At the Halfway mark you will find Svarthiller, an old mountain farm. The view from Svarthiller is magnificent, with Urnes on the far side of the fjord and the fjord itself in all its glory. The path turns 90 degrees from Svarthiller, and climbs steeply, winding its way past sheer outcrops. After this the terrain is flatter, and it's relatively easy to walk to the cairn at the top of Molden, 1118 metres above sea level. The walk takes about two hours at a normal pace.
