Wildlife Kayak paddling, hiking in remote gorge and glacier walk This combined daytrip is for you that want the real wilderness. The trip starts with a 6 km kayak trip along the shore of Tunsbergdalsvatnet...
...which ends in a huge flat glacier deltaplain. From there on you hike through dense bushes crossing rivers on small bridges...
...before the valley opens up. In the river there are pieces of ice coming from the ice cap further up. In sunshine you can see the ice crystals through several thousand year old blue ice. Even higher up...
... you are crossing a wild morrain landscape that reminds of Himalya, before you...
are standing on a big piece of ice.
Tunsbergdalsbreen is the biggest valley glacier in Norway. The trip is run by icetroll. takes 8-10 hours, and you need plenty of food and water. But moving at a slow speed it is available for most. Price: 890 NOK. Season: June - mid October. It is highly reccomended!
The trip starts at the bridge at the Leirdalen
turnoff in Jostedal. You get there with private car or with the
Glacier Bus leaving Solvorn 09:05 every day.
